You Did It!!!!
January 4, 2010

With a grand total of $6,002.36, you granted a wish of a child in Maine!!!!

Thank you doesn’t even begin to cover it…

Thank you to everyone who came by, thank you for forwarding e-mails, posting flyers, and telling your family and friends. Thank you for the kind words, the phone calls, the handshakes, the hugs, the letters and the e-mails. Thank you for the donations, from baggies full of pennies, to checks from as close as next door, to as far as Texas.

Thank you to Amy Moore for designing our website. She went above and beyond and we couldn’t have done this without her. We are very grateful for her time and talent in helping us to spread the word. We had many wonderful compliments on our website thanks to Amy!

Thank you to those who shared their stories and showing us how Make-A-Wish has touched your lives.

Thank you for our WONDERFUL, supportive, and patient neighbors. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Thank you to Make-A-Wish for welcoming us with open arms. We appreciate the supplies they sent us and we wore our Make-A-Wish hats with pride. A special thank you to James Christie for making the long trip to see the lights and for inspiring us with the letters and e-mails of encouragement.

We are once again overwhelmed by the generosity and the Christmas spirit that we have seen. This experience has been so much more than we ever imagined and we can’t wait to do it again next year!!!

We are already in the planning process for Halloween and Christmas next year. We hope you all can join us!

To answer a few of our most common questions:

We handed out 2000 candy canes and 100+ dog bones.

For the show our electric bill has increased about $150, which was well worth the expense.

The programming took about 40-60 hours for the 9 minute show. Our 12 year old son programmed the narration.

We had visitors from The Virgin Islands, Arizona, Virginia, every state in New England, and many more.

On our busiest night, December 23rd, the wait was up to 40 minutes long. Everyone was extremely patient and courteous.

We were in the Maine Sunday Telegram (Portland Press Herald), the Journal Tribune and on Q 97.9 and WHOM.

Yes, our neighbors love it. They are AMAZING! We couldn’t do this if they weren’t as wonderful as they are.

We chose Make-A-Wish for Christmas for several reasons. First and foremost, it is a wonderful organization run by amazing people that is about hope and wishes. Make-A-Wish touches many lives, supporting many people with different challenges. I (Stan) work at Pease Air National Guard Base as a civilian and enlisted where we see many Make-A-Wish recipients come to our base and it is very touching to see the effect that Make-A-Wish has on these children and their families.

We do a Halloween show too! It is called OPERATION: Scare and Share which runs for the last two weeks of October. You can check our website for more information when October rolls around. You can see videos from this past year under the “videos” section here. During OPERATION: Scare and Share we collect non-perishable food items for St. Mary’s Food Pantry in Wells.

I can’t say enough how amazed and thankful I am to have so many people come see our lights and help support Make-A-Wish. I hope you have safe and blessed New Year.

What's New
November 17, 2009

Each year we try to make our display new and exciting. We doubled the amount of channels that control our lights from 32 to 64, which gives us the ability to add more detail. We found a song that makes my wife cry every time she hears it, which includes a medley of many Christmas and holiday classics.

Many people ask how long it takes to program the lights to music. Generally for every minute of a song, it takes 4-6 hours to program. One of our songs this year is 9 ½ minutes long….I certainly have my work cut out for me. Thankfully, my 12 year old son learned to program this year, so I will be recruiting him for help.

Make-A-Wish FoundationWe are proud to announce that Nortonlights will be collecting donations for the Make A Wish foundation this holiday season. Please help us make a child’s life a little “brighter” by dropping off a donation when you stop by to see the lights. Our goal is to raise $6000 to grant one child’s wish in Maine. Together we can spread the magic of the holidays.

Thanks for Your Support

Thank you for your overwhelming support of this year’s new Halloween display, OPERATION: “Scare and Share”. We were able to collect hundreds of canned goods and supplies for St. Mary’s Food Pantry. We were very touched and surprised at the wonderful turnout for our very first Halloween display. Because of the generous support of our community we plan to “Scare and Share” again next year!!!
